Parker Women’s Club Awards 3 Scholarships to Local Students
Parker, Texas, June 5, 2017 - The Parker Women’s Club is proud to grant scholarships totaling $6,500 to three graduating Parker seniors this year. The 2017 recipients are Jessica Elliott, Steven Elliott and Gigi Tartaglino. The recipients have excellent scholastic records and participated in numerous extracurricular activities.

Jessica will graduate from Magnolia Academy (home school) and will attend SMU focusing on Biological Sciences and Fine Arts. Her future plan to be a physician is complemented by her dedication to Ballet with 40+ performances on a national level as well as numerous medals / awards as a classical pianist. She has already completed college coursework and actively serves the community at numerous non profits.

Jessica, Steven, and Gigi

Gigi will graduate from Plano East Senior High and plans to attend Texas Christian University focusing on Biochemistry. In addition to advanced placement classes, she is a member of National Honor Society and actively serves the community through mission activities locally and abroad as well as a volunteer at local schools, hospitals and UNICEF.

Steven will graduate from Magnolia Academy (home school) and will attend Harvard focusing on the field of Electrical Engineering. In addition to having college courses at Collin County and SMU already behind him, he is also a robotics designer (patent pending), recipient of numerous science and engineering awards, a classical pianist and a cross-country runner.

The Parker Women's Club (PWC) is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. It was organized in August 1973, and is made up of a diverse group of women sharing the mutual goal of promoting a sense of ownership for the Parker community that is based on charity, service and friendship. PWC awarded its first $200 scholarship in 1984 reflecting the membership's commitment to future Parker generations. Since 2003, PWC has awarded 28 scholarships totaling $44,400 to exceptional Parker seniors. In addition to scholarships, fundraising efforts have enabled the PWC to support the Parker Volunteer Fire Department with annual donations, to finance and coordinate the periodic publication of the City of Parker Directory, and to construct a gazebo and install permanent picnic tables in the Parker Preserve for the use and enjoyment of all Parker residents.
